The Village,Total mall, Sarjapur Review

Village means Gaon(gram) in Hindi, Pind in Punjabi and Suburb in English and today I will be writing about a village themed restaurant which is located in Total mall and one of its own kind resto chain in Bangalore. I have already visited The Village in Central mall before, I will be reviewing it shortly.

The only difference between both the restaurant is The Village, Central Mall, J P Nagar is purely vegetarian while the The Village Total mall, Sarjapur is both veg and non vegetarian.

How it all started
I was planning a birthday party for my friends and this time all want to go to some classy place rather than going to some pub or disc. So the idea of The Village, Total Mall came into picture. Actually initially we planned for The Village, JP Nagar but as it was complete vegetarian, we planned for The Village, Total mall as it was serving both veg and non-veg options.

Activities there

It was completely different from a normal restaurant. Here you can even participate in different activities which are part of daily fun. When we reached there activities already got started and puppet show was going which we missed as it was in its end only. The place had booming music and Gujarati dance program started which included dandiya.

Initially we all were doing our own but then Gujarati instructor came to teach the dance and all people there got engrossed in the dance activity. The dance went on for around 30 minutes and then came the Freestyle punjabi music . In the freestyle music many bollywood and punjabi songs were played. Songs like kala chasma, na na na na, blue eyes were awesome. Everyone there enjoyed it.

Other then music some props were also there like police costume, prisoner costume, stylish hats and wig. You can use them to take selfies.

What We Had there.
So now coming to the enormous number of food items there. First a welcome drink was served like jaljeera. Then a live counter of chat papdi, golgappa, dahi bhaala and bhel puri were there. I tasted each item and the garnishing done over was awesome. After tasting all those I just thought to myself “This is turning out to be just another nice looking place ”.

Then my friends went for some non-veg stuff which they told include chicken and fish items. According to their view Non-Veg item nailed it. I started with some noodles and manchurian but got disappointed as the salt content was much higher. Then I took some other appetizers which were part of the live counters like pakoras and pav bhaji, these items were crisp and crunchy. After having all these stuff I went for some dance to make some space in my stomach.

Tea was served on a cycle.

About the Main course

The main course contains around 10 items all vegetarian. I took malai kofta , tomato kadi, salad and Indian breads(butter naan). Food was amazing , spiced and cooked to perfection. I didn't like the black dal as it had probably too much tomato in it. Overall the main course was good.

Desserts
They had variety of things in the desserts like halwa, gulab jamun, fruits, jalebi and ice cream. Loved the fresh and hot jalebi they prepared. Taste was pure punjabi.

Ambiance and Location

Located inside the Total mall a very very very cool location. You can plan for shopping and then have dinner in the Village. Being a pure theme restaurant its ambiance was ultimate. It had an artificial tree planted within which was icing on the cake. The tree symbolized the panchayat raj system existing in villages.

Staff and Service

Staff greeted us very well. They even taught us how to do gujarati dance. Service was fast. Servers served everything as fast as they can. The management at the place made our experience a memorable one.
